Jens Voigt received degree as Diploma Engineer (MSc) in Brewing and Beverage Technology from TU München-Weihenstephan, Germany in 1985. He held positions with Steinecker as an engineer in brewhouse and fermentation and filtration equipment. From 1988 until 1992 he received his doctorate in brewing technology on beer foam from with Prof. Dr. Narziß. In 1996 he joined Doemens Managing Director. In 1997 he joined Huppmann, Kitzingen, working on brewery equipment. Since early 2004 he is a research associate with Prof. Dr. Karl Sommer at the Chair for Mechanical Engineering & Process Technology  at the Center of Life Science, Weihenstephan.

Special Fields: Brewery equipment design, machinery design, process technology.

He is member of the Institute of Brewing and Destilling, member of the editorial board and referee for papers in the Journal of the Institute of Brewing, London (JIB),Technical Quarterly of MBAA and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AiChE). He is a member of the MBAA Master Brewers Association of the Americas, and also lecturing there on brewing machinery.

In 2009 he was nominated as Chairman of the International Section of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD), London and is Member of the Brewing Science Group of EBC.

He is an independent expert officially appointed by the Industrial Chamber of Commerce on brewing equipment and beverage technology.
